It was a summer evening, one of those summers that stretch deliciously. A scent of Magnolia floated in the air as if to suspend time and dance in her long wild hair. Notes, sizzling like cicadas, escaped from the record player before mingling with the scent of bergamot and plum trees. With her crown of flowers and bare feet, she looked like a Janis Joplin muse. His lips bit enviously into a Reine-Claude. And my senses flipped.
